A new South Philadelphia home arranged around a central stair, bringing daylight through three floors on a narrow city lot.
On a lot one house wide, daylight comes in at the front and the back, and the middle of the house is the hardest part to light. We put the stair there. Open and railed in steel, it lets light travel through all three floors, and it carries on up to a roof deck with its own small stair enclosure. The house is sprinklered throughout.
